September Sun
Since this is our 45th anniversary, I thought I might post this song/poem I wrote for my Lisafaye for our 2nd anniversary. While not a hot, sexy story, it does reflect my idea of married monogamy and happiness. Through God’s grace, the joy and optimism expressed here has been borne out, even during the tough times. May all of you find and share a love like this. Amen!
SEPTEMBER SUN
The weather’s getting cooler, Summer’s over
But we don’t mind the temperature at all
We cuddle close together at night
Keep each other warm
Seems we always do our best loving in the Fall
There’s nothing like the feeling of September
The crisp and clear refreshing Autumn air
The changing leaves reflect the pretty colors
Of the beautiful love that you and I both share
September sun shines on our life
The day that I made you my wife
The first time we made love, scared and shy
Though many seasons come and go
We’ll always have September’s glow
It’s shining bright for me there in your eyes
I don’t know what’s coming in the future
But this beautiful baby girl’s a real fine start
To a life of love and happiness together
And a home kept warm by two romantic hearts
September sun shines on our life
I’m so glad I made you my wife
So many memories of happy times
There’s a cabin on a lake in Maine
The first signs of our baby came
Hamburger dinners with candlelight and wine
September sun shines on our life
I’m so glad I made you my wife
The first time we made love, scared and shy
Though many years may come and go
I know I’ll always love you so
September sun keeps shining
On our life

So tender and moving! A beautiful tribute to your years of married love! 🤗🥰😍
Thanks LLL! I tried to put into words what I was feeling at the time, and for the most part it's been a wonderful life we've built together. You don't have 45 years of marriage without hitting some rough patches, but God has always seen fit to keep us together through them. There's a powerful line in one of my favorite country songs that goes "Where the sun always shines, there's a desert below." Remember that when you find your own special someone, but don't always agree. Embrace the rain, for it will make love grow!
Thanks MH staffers, for finding the perfect image for my post! We lived for almost 10 years in a tiny town in northeast Vermont. One of our favorite pastimes was walking down our dirt road as the leaves were changing colors. Now we're in upstate New York, but still on a dead end dirt road!
