Erotica for the Rest of Us: Appreciation
Part One in a series called “Erotica for the Rest of Us.” This one is a short poem, but we would like to write full-length stories in the future. Dedicated to all wives who struggle with vaginismus.
It is raining in New England
It is flooding in France
There are tsunamis in India
Yet here we sit in our desert
In the shadow of a cactus
Drink, my beloved
Drink deeply.
There is not much
But it is all we have
Shall we despair because we have not rain
Because we have not an ocean?
We shall enjoy what we have
It is not raining here
But this is enough
No one knows the sweet taste of agave but us.

Lovely!
Thank you!
There are those who are called to walk a harder road than the rest of us, a road not as bright nor wondrous, a road with more ruts and holes than smooth passage. But I believe that their reward shall be greater, if for no other reason than that they had less sweetness here to enjoy, and every sacrifice and loss, every sorrow and deprivation, will be overwhelmed in the beauty and joy that shall be theirs.
Beautiful poem, and I hope we see much more from you in the future!
Thank you @DefiantArtist. This is a beautiful statement. I regretted posting this crappy poem, and tried to take it down, but it was too late for me to do that. But I am happy it posted for no other reason but to read your beautiful response. Thanks again!!
We are so glad you didn't. It's not crappy at all and resonates with those who have similar—or any—sexual struggles in their relationship. It helps to be reminded we are not alone in our circumstances.
Truly beautiful, and true, Daisy! Thank you!
Thank you!!
