Is There Anything We Can Do?

Greetings, MHers! We hope you are all staying safe and are well as the virus-at-large necessitates self-isolation. We’ve been racking our collective brain to think of something we could do to both improve the situation for our members and encourage growth in your marriage heat despite these stressful times. A suggestion from Northstar came to our rescue!

We know that many of us can’t work right now and that money may be tight. What would you all say to a little tradeoff? We would love to offer a free introductory membership to Ignite to all of you that submit a story of at least 300 words. This is your opportunity to both be inspired and become an inspiration to marriages around the globe!

Now, your submission does need to meet our guidelines and the spirit of MarriageHeat, and only stories (not advice posts or discussion questions) qualify. But other than that, you’re in!

The sooner you get your story to us, the longer your free subscription will last. On August 5th, the free membership will end. We’ll ask those of you who receive one to consider renewing at $7/mo to help sustain the mission of MarriageHeat: to Build and Support a Culture of Hot Biblical Monogamy. And hopefully, your experience with the ever-growing cache of perks for Ignitors will sweeten the pot! Who knows, maybe by then we will be celebrating an end to social distancing requirements as well as to concerns about COVID-19.

As always, we pray God’s blessing on your marriages (or future marriages, singles) and peace for your hearts and minds and your trust in Him.

I would love to join. Hey a question… I have a story I'm working on but its around 21,000 words! It can be broken down into a series of smaller stories of between 2 and 4 thousand words each. I guess that's not going to work for this format is it? It's a fantasy about a honeymoon, one day at a time. Just thought I'd ask. It's still a work in process.

You might want to consider submitting this as a novella that we could publish as an ebook. We used to have a book publication arm, where contributors wrote, MH edited and formatted and published, then profits (sales minus costs) were split 50/50. That went away when Ignite started, due to time constraints. But we really want to do it again, once the reworking of the Ignite program is done.

Stag-on-a-Hill, I think it would fit in the Ignite content and a series like that sounds marvelous!

I was wondering the same thing actually. Hopefully MarriageHeat can provide some clarification on that? I guess the main thing would be that the story would have to be able a married couple. I'm not too sure that a solo masturbation story would qualify but in our cases a fantasy one about a couple probably would since we can't write one based on experience.

    • MarriageHeat says:

Absolutely, a solo masturbation story would qualify. MH upholds the belief that singles' masturbation can be natural, normal, healthy, and help with self-control during the waiting period, within reason.

    • MarriageHeat says:

Actually, no! Fictional stories about married sex are completely appropriate, or describing a fantasy of what it might be like once you are married.

    • SinglePringle says:

Thanks so much for clarifying! I have something written but I'll probably edit it to make it more interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to submit something soon.

I'll add my name to the list of singles thinking about writing something! I've had a series planned for years that I just haven't gotten to, but maybe I can dedicate some time to it, and maybe write some discussion material while I'm at it! Hopefully SAYING this instead of just THINKING it will help me actually do it, haha!

Thanks MH for the prompt! You guys are always awesome! 🙂

Well I'll join in and have a shot at it too then! I've been messing around with an idea so this is just the motivation that I need to finish it off.

Tally ho! as the Brits would say lol. I decided to treat myself to a Netflix month in an effort to stave off #staying at home boredom and am bingeing on The Crown, so one never quite knows what's going to come out of one's mouth, does one? 😉

With approval, but give us a couple of days from when you see it change status. It has to go through a couple of people before the subscription gets added. You should see your "Welcome to Ignite" email after a day. But if you just can't wait (we get it; there are a lot of perks waiting for new Ignitors and you don't want to lose a day), contact us and let us know that you are an eager beaver. We will be happy to expedite the process.

Just got the email! Thanks again! Now we have a new challenge: to see if we can make it through the longer Ignite stories when we read to each other before someone drops the iPad. 😀
