Thinking of You, Mom – A Poem to GG

I recently saw this little poem my sister Kristie wrote for mom. It was in a envelope with the flowers she sent. I opened and read it and it deeply touched my heart.
Kristie is usually a quiet type person, kinda like my grandmother was. I asked her if I could copy it and perhaps post it. She said that she didn’t care, that it was just something she wrote late one night at the hospital. She didn’t even think it was all that good in the first place. Marriage Heat was mentioned, so I felt it would be good to share it with you all. I know mom will enjoy it once she is able to read it.

Thinking of You, Mom
To my dearest Mom, our beautiful GG,
Lying there quiet, wishing you were free.
We know you are fighting, so brave and so strong,
Just know in your heart, you’ve been loved all along.
From Kristie, Alicia, and Randy too,
Our families are praying, thinking only of you.
The love in this room stretches further than sight,
We’re holding your hand through the day and the night.
Alica and her family, they send all their grace,
And Randy and his folks, yearning for your embrace.
We’re missing your laugh, your kind, loving way,
And need you to rally and win this today.
Your close friends are worried, they send hopeful cheers,
And even the gang over at MarriageHeat hears
The silent plea rising, a message so clear:
Get better, dear mom, we need you right here!
Just focus on resting, let your strength start to bloom,
We’ll chase all the shadows right out of this room.
We are all wrapped around you, a blanket of love,
Sending healing wishes from Heaven above.
Come back to us soon, when this trial is done,
We’ll celebrate loudly the battle you’ve won.
We love you, we love you, more than words can express,
You’re the heart of our world, God’s true loving caress.

Well, I think this is very beautiful. I strongly disagree that this poem is “not all that good.” Please tell Kristie that this is a wonderful poem and a great tribute to your loving mother.

What a beautiful poem for your dear mother. MommaGG is such a dear person, even though we’ve never met. We’ve been witnesses to her strength during the loss of her dear Ben.

It’s a beautiful poem for a truly wonderful lady. Her stories were among the first that I read when I found MH many years ago.
I have enjoyed sharing in the good times and been heartbroken with your family over the tragedy.
My prayers will continue for her and all of you.
I think a lot of people here have their own fine memories of your mom. So do I! When I joined MH years ago I was amazed by her words. I felt so comfort when reading about her explanations. It really helped me to heal from things in the past. Hope she'll be fine soon, till then we can only pray.
