True Valentines Day Romantic Story
Well it was getting close to Valentines Day and I still wasn’t sure what I was going to do for my husband. I just recently read a book that talked about love languages and I finally knew what he was. So now for the first time in my life I could plan a Valentines Day geared to him (acts of service) and not me (physical touch). He wasn’t really into romance so I was always perplexed about what to do for him and so far in the four years we have been married I seemed to strike out. So here I am 5 days until Valentines Day and I still have no clue as to what to do for my husband.
I had a Dr.’s appointment on the morning of the 10th and I was early so I went into a dollar store and a light bulb went off. I saw a bunch of Hawaiian things (fake leis, Aloha sign, etc.) and I thought about how we got engaged in Hawaii and how even though it wasn’t on Valentines Day we were there in Hawaii on Valentines Day. Well with my husband working so hard and being extremely stressed out over work and finding another job to replace the contract he just got finished with I thought of how relaxed he was when we were there. He had to work while we were there but it was one of the few places I have ever seen him so relaxed. I instantly started to make plans for Saturday night.
In less than a day I had the whole thing planned. I found a babysitter for the boys. I created an invitation for him, I created a welcome letter for him, and I purchased anything I would need to use for his relaxation get away. When he came home on Friday night I let him know that Saturday he would need to stay away from our room for the day because I would be giving him his Valentine Day gift that night. He agreed and it was much easier than I thought it would be to get him to.
Saturday morning arrived and I hurried downstairs to place his invitation on his computer keyboard before he had a chance to get down there. It said: YOUR INVITED… To a Stress Relieving Get Away Please join me for dinner in our kitchen at 6… After a nice enjoyable dinner I would ask that you proceed to the bathroom… In the bathroom you will find something for you to change into… After you have had a few moments to change I ask that you sit down and put the blindfold on… I will then take you into your oasis so that your stress can float away… Please sit back and enjoy as I take your stress away…
After I placed that on his keyboard I headed back upstairs and I spent all day getting the room ready. I first had to clean everything off of our dresser and nightstands and get everything off our walls. As I was doing so I had a wonderful piece of luck fall upon me. A few years ago when our son was in boy scouts we had to make a “flag” to represent our camp sight with our name. We made one that said, “P***** Paradise” on it with a tropical theme. It was perfect for tonight and I never thought I would have a need for that again but here I was putting it to use again. I took the time and placed it on the outside of our bedroom door. I put our rocking chair up in the room (I had to go up two flights of stairs). I put the fake leis on the bed so that he had a bed of leis (instead of a bed of roses). I made him his gift bag (toothpaste, gum, some heart peanut butter cups, and a bunch of coupons with things he never has time to do around the house but does anyway [mowing the lawn, washing the truck, spraying the trees, cleaning the gutters, etc.], and his card). I put the fake hula skirts around the dressers, nightstands and TV tray. I put up the pictures of the pineapple and toucan birds up on the walls. I placed a couple of leis on the wall in front of the chair. I put the candles out. I got the ocean CD ready to be played. I laid out my “massage” outfit (Pajama’s with the word love on them). I had to set up the foot-soaking tray. I put all of the stones in the bottom of it and placed the towel under it. I got the massage basket all ready (it had spray oil, the massaging wand, the massage roller, the lotion, bath-salt, and body scrub) and placed another towel over it so he could not see what was in it.
Then I had to head to the kitchen. I had purchased a couple of real pineapples. One of them was for decoration and one was for us to eat. So I had to cut up a pineapple. I know this would be special for him because every morning in Hawaii we would eat breakfast together and during that breakfast we always made sure to eat fresh pineapple together. I also made him his Hawaiian drink for the night.
I had planned on making him dinner that night but with everything else that was going on I ended up ordering it from one of our favorite restaurants and going to pick it up. On the way there I started to get knots in my stomach. I was unsure if it was because this was something new I was trying, because I had not eaten anything all day or a combination of both.
He “arrived” for dinner at 6 and asked if he was to bring his invitation or if he was just welcome. I let him know he was just welcome. We sat down to eat and he asked me to pray before dinner. He said, “I am not very good at praying so if you would I would like that.” So I did. I asked the Lord to bless the evening and allow both my husband and I to see it for what it really is. We had a very relaxed dinner and conversation. It was a wonderful time. After dinner he spent time helping me clean up the kitchen. It was a nice thing because I wasn’t sure how I was going to get it cleaned up and get the bedroom ready, me changed, CD on, fruit upstairs, drink upstairs and all done in a very minimum waiting time for him. After he helped me I asked him to head up to the bathroom.
So he arrives in the bathroom to another note “Welcoming” him to the P***** Paradise get away. It said: Dear Mr. P*****, Let me be the first to welcome you to P***** Paradise. We are glad you are able to join us for the stress relaxation get away. We have provided you with a pair of boxer shorts for your stay. Please take a few moments to relax and change into the boxer shorts that have been provided for you. After you have changed we ask that you place the blindfold over your eyes. Your personal massage therapist will be with you shortly and any questions you have maybe addressed to her. We know you will enjoy your stress relaxation evening. Sincerely, General Manager P***** Paradise
While he was changing (I was a bit nervous about whether or not he would go along with my request because the boxers were a silk red pair with silver hearts all over them. He is a bit practical and I thought he might see them as kind of silly but to my pleasure he indulged me.) I brought up his “Hawaiian Drink” with a fresh slice of pineapple on the side and an umbrella straw, fresh pineapple, quickly changed into my pajamas, turned on the ocean CD, turned off the lights, and lit all the candles.
Then I went to retrieve him out of the bathroom and walked him into the bedroom. I had him sit down and placed the drink in his hand. Then I filled the foot tub up with warm water and bath salt. I brought it back into the room and placed his feet into it one at a time. I then let him take the blindfold off. Then after about 5 minutes of us talking while his feet are soaking and me massaging them with the rocks and my hands I started to wash them. After I was finished with both feet I removed them from the tub, dried them off and placed lotion on them. After his foot massage was done I asked him to take a few moment to look through his gift bag while I prepared for the next part of his gift…
While I was moving the chair out of the room (small room) he was going through his bag which had some things he has needed but it also had gift vouchers in them for things I always hear him say he doesn’t have time to get done and he was about in tears because I thought of him with the gifts I had given him.
So after he was done I had him lay down on the floor and gave him a full body massage. I had him lay down on his belly first and I started with putting the other towel over his boxers so the oil did not ruin them. I then started with his back and did his neck, shoulders, and arms. I then moved down to his legs. I made sure to spend at least 7 minutes on each spot. After I was done with the back I asked him to roll over so I could do the same process on the front side of him. He was so relaxed when he was done and so happy.
After I was done we sat and talked for a while. It really was a wonderful night over all. I finally took time to consider my husband’s needs and wants and by doing so I gave him the best gift I could have ever done for him. Last night was truly about him and he was very relaxed when it was over. It was the best thing I could have given to him and it turned out to be the best thing given to me as well!!!!

Beautifully done! Very Romantic!
Thank you!!
Impressive, that’s what every man dreams of.
