Forgiveness

My purpose in sharing this story is that hopefully it will help another couple with healing. When we got married I had no idea my husband had been sexually abused by a close family member and that he was secretly struggling with various forms of sex addiction leading up to a one night stand a few years into our marriage that he tearfully confessed days later.

I of course battled between the head knowledge of not my fault, not a failure, his issue and the feelings of betrayal, anger, sadness, etc. I chose to stay and could tell he was broken up with a true repentent heart and said I forgave him but things just weren’t right. I prayed and asked God what to do for healing for both of us. I rented a suite at a hotel with in room jaccuzi tub. I made a circle of rose petals on the floor and had him strip naked and stand in the circle. I then took anointing oil I had bought at our Bible book store and started anointing the various parts of his body. I told him I forgave his mind for thinking things it dhouldn’t, his eyes for looking at things they shouldn’t, his ears for listening to things they shouldn’t, his mouth for saying things it shouldn’t, his hands for touching things they shouldn’t, his feet for walking where they shouldn’t, and his penis for intimately being places it had no business being. I then ran a hot bubble bath and got in the tub with him washing him from head to toe. With God’s help 20 years later he is free from the bondage of the past. We are in ministry, have a great marriage, and a great life.

God is amazing! My husband and I were both hurt like that when we were kids, and thankfully we found that out early on. But it's wonderful how you managed to forgive this man. May God keep you, my dears <3
