Thoughts About Married Sex

I am enjoying Marriage Heat because it promotes Song of Solomon sexuality. My wife and I have been married for 19 years and have a very good love life. Like all couples there have been seasons where we are totally in synch and other seasons where we have had to work at the relationship. The cool thing is that The Lord is always faithful and is the source for our maritial bliss. His commands to love my wife in a sacrificial way and keep our marriage bed pure ultimately bear fruit in the form of a oneness that reflects God’s glory to those in our sphere of influence (kids, family, friends). In that oneness of relationship our Heavenly Father then throws in the gift of passionate, delicious, mind blowing sex that connects us all the more. I guess my point is that after 19 years of marriage I’m more thankful for the way God designed marriage.

We agree this site promote Song of Songs sexuality. Who do you think that Christians have a difficult time with something that is obviously in the Bible?

Good question, Passion, I really have no idea myself. I have read the entire Bible more than once and never read anything against enjoying marriage sexuality. We have a whole book of the Bible on erotic writings, doesn’t that more than hint good and passionate sex in marriage is something God wholeheartedly promotes?

I think Christians can have difficulty because sexually intimacy is so powerful that it can be really beneficial or really harmful depending on how it is harnessed. As I start talking to my son about God’s view of sex I describe it like fire. When fire is controlled and used constructively it is helpful and wonderful. If however fire is not tended to properly it can be very destructive.
I also think sexual intimacy can be scary to some because you have to go all in and make yourself very vulnerable. Personally, I love the rush of going “all in” (pardon the pun 🙂 but in I think for some it can be scary and requires a delicate tenderness by the other to establish a safe environment to let go.

We are just learning but we both feel God's presence and love when we make love. He alone can create but He has commanded us to procreate and we take this responsibility very seriously.
We practice nearly every day, always naked, and in the daytime or with candlelight. We feel that having a joyous and exciting sexual relationship is part of our Christian witness and people can tell that we having fun being married!
