A Site Like MH but for Christian Singles?
I’m single and currently not dating anyone. As time goes on, I find myself wishing there was a site like this but for singles to share writings. I’m a virgin; I don’t relate to these stories often. And while I’m absolutely waiting until marriage to have sex, I find it very lonely at times to not be able to express desires in a way that is understandable other than the writings of other singles.
I’m kinda just stream-of-thought writing this. Sorry if it’s a little disjointed. But what is a way I can engage with people like me who also want to remain virgins but be able to talk about our very real desires in a safe way?
To be honest, I don't know of any made specifically for Christian singles. Do you mean like sharing fantasies of what it will be like once you get married? Or stories of dating or courting? There are stories like that on MH; Maybe check in the Courtship Stories or We Waited categories? Or there's Single Masturbation.
If you feel there is a need for such a site, though, maybe you ought to create one. It is sure to come with a lot of challenges, so be sure you pray about it and feel sure that God is leading you in that direction. There are people who would misuse a site like that.
I feel like a site for Christian singles for the purpose of discussing “our very real desires” has the potential to run off the rails rather quickly.
I love that singles are at this site, but it’s primarily to learn from more seasoned pros, and to gain some healthy wisdom.
My advice, look up “Songs of the Believer” on Mighty Networks. It’s a more real-time candid conversation. Still mostly marrieds and a number of singles too. Plus you can DM folks, including me. I was a very horny single once too. That seems like a safe way to move forward.
[From MH: SotB has let us know that they are really seeking more of a balance between male and female members, and they have private sections for Girl Talk and Guy Talk, if ladies aren't comfortable with the open forum. DM's are completely optional and abuse is not tolerated. We definitely recommend the site and you will find some names you recognize.]
When you say "Dm" im assuming you mean on SoTB since this site doesn't have the ability to dm as far as I can tell
I applied for the website do you know how long it generally takes to get accepted?
I’m not an admin there, but usually it’s less than 24 hour approval. Yes I’m referring to DMing at SoTB. And yes I’m referring to DMing same sex contributors, as a way to discuss frankly and gain wisdom. I’m there, so you can say hi when you get approved.
alright, i'm still waiting to hear from them but hopefully I will!
I am a single myself and enjoy the conversations that are had on SotB. It’s at least something to check out.
I'm currently waiting to hear back from them as I submited a request to join the site!
i made a very similar post to this one but its not scheduled to post for another few weeks.
I say that to say your not alone in those thoughts!
I'm an idiot and realized this WAS my post lol.
I'm a little leery of a site like this for singles. I was a horny single virgin male until my marriage at 32 years old. I get it. But I'm afraid of where a site like this for singles could go and how it could get out of hand and become an IRL danger.
For those applying to our site, we aren't granting all applications and have ignored some. We carefully review each submission. We have approved a handful that haven't joined yet, so you might want to check all your folders. If you have questions, email us [at songsofthebelievers@gmail.com – MH doesn't allow *personal* emails to be published, but this makes sense here.] Thanks!
ive tried making a account on there but it hasn't worked out
What site is this?
Paul Byerly and his wife Lori are site owners of themarriagebed dot com. This site and forum has moved around a lot over the last 20 years; from onelist to egroups to Yahoo forums and finally to their own website. During their time on Yahoo they had a separate forum for singles. It was fairly active but many of the subscribers were rather harsh so Paul decided not to continue it when he got his own website.
I do believe such a venue is a good idea. But managing it can be a nightmare.
