It says nothing in the Bible about the use of sexual terms being a sin, including the f-word. Believe me if I thought for one minute that it was against God’s word to use such language I would not use them in my stories or in our bedroom. Ben would agree on that point.

After talking it over with Ben, I have decided to tone down the passion of my stories by limiting or dropping the use of the f-word in my stories, as well as some of the more graphic sexual descriptions. ( At least try to! ).
To do this the stories will mostly be fictional instead of stories about mine and Ben’s sex life. I can take constructive criticism, but my stories have been called vulgar, cheap and pornographic.

Just saw the thread of controversy I sparked and wanted to comment. This is lively dialogue and Gina I think it’s great that you’re using wisdom and searching for answers on how much is too much.
1) I compliment your writing and never questioned your love for GOD or Ben.
2) I think the larger Christian community is still very prude. They’re missing out on the passion that GOD shows us in scripture, Song of Solomon mainly. MH is doing a great service, but I know my wife would be turned off by the crude language and I doubt she would take the time to learn to navigate the site and avoid the (L) stories.
3) That said, there is a godly and noble heart in taking seriously the idea of not causing someone else to stumble, and not letting an unwholesome word come out of our mouths. Getting caught up in passion with my wife and saying, “Yes, I want to f-ck you” is wholesome in that private context. But when I write about my own marriage bed and wife in a public way, with what seems to be growing crudeness, it just doesn’t seem to line up with a call to be Holy as God is holy. That’s my personal opinion. Not saying it has to be anyone else’s. Why not tone it down a little? Or abbreviate, f-ck. and change up the names so someone like me doesn’t feel like I’m lurking in someone’s actual marriage bed.
4) I think human nature is to push the bar a little, to test the limits. People do it with alcohol (yes, I drink but in moderation because my dad is alcoholic). And drugs, and sex. Men and women flirt. Christian women and some men read Shades of Gray out of curiosity. Men and women struggle with pornography. And with many of these vices, virtue suffers. One thing leads to another. But one of the fruits of the spirit is also self control. My concern Ito the editors of MH is that the pictures are becoming more alluring and the stories more edgy, and more frequent. Cruder references to body parts and more (L) story submissions, it seems. I could be wrong.
One thing is true. When you push the bar it will cause controversy. Jesus did. When people start getting defensive instead of heeding a little constructive criticism, it’s a decent sign that perhaps a line has been crossed.
