Why are we encouraged by Marriage Heat?
I am new to MH and grateful for this website. After reading a number of the stories and comments, I would like to encourage the MH readers with something.
As Christians, we want to stay away from the kinds of pitfalls and sinful behaviors that go with sinful sexuality. God made the marriage bed holy. God made sexual oneness in marriage to be a wonderful blessing. Our enemy, Satan, is a liar who wants to deceive people and draw them away from God’s best.
So, from the start we know that there are competing world views waging war against each other. We need God’s wisdom.
Again: Why are we encouraged by this site?
Here is a brief, sound, biblical basis…
Song of Solomon affords us to see God’s view of the sexual attitudes, fantasies, and focus from godly people. These were two people who were horny for each other. They were not ashamed. They thought about each other’s bodies a lot. The euphemistic language allows us to see that they fantasized about what they wanted to do to with the other.
So, believers have read Song of Solomon for centuries and profited from it. We can learn from those who have gone before us and from each other. Marriage Heat is an avenue to this.
Here is how: The apostle Paul wrote in 1st Corinthians 11:1 – “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ”. We glean from Acts and Paul’s letters something of how he imitated Christ. This helps us to know how to pray, what to pray, what gospel to proclaim, how Paul loved others, how Paul withstood persecution for his faith, how Paul planted churches, and so much more. We read and glean in order to apply.
God has also given us the writings of Christians who have gone before us. They don’t usurp the power and authority of the Bible – yet, we can learn how to apply Scripture by seeing the example of others who have gone before us. We learn by reading biographies in this way.
Marriage Heat is a way for us to encounter Christian married sex biographies! Of course, we must test everything by Scripture. That goes for all of life. But just as an apprentice carpenter learns from those with more experience, or expertise in different areas – we can all learn and be stimulated to godly sexual creativity by learning form the experiences of other Christians.
I agree that sermons on Sunday will not be the appropriate forum for this – with the mixed ages, etc. This is why I am so grateful for this forum.
I am thankful that Blondie runs MH with godly integrity. I have no idea what she must edit out – but she does a great job that honors the Lord – and blesses those of us who read.
So, I encourage contributors to see themselves in this light. Be mindful that your experiences can be of great encouragement to other couples who do not want to go outside of the bounds that God has graciously given.
Obviously, there are not a hundred sites like MH. It is providing a unique opportunity.
Marriage Heat encourages us to stay within the bounds of our marriages. It reminds us that God has given us great freedom to be exhilarated by myriads of sexual experiences with our spouses – that He has the ability to make NEW to us.
So, with hearts bowed to God in thankfulness – let’s see this forum as a tool for greater covenant oneness in our marriages. Seek the Lord in all of this.
Thank you, Lord. Thank you Marriage Heat (and Blondie).
We are sorry that this post was not one of your favorites!
Help us understand why.
